Tire Replacement
« on: May 14, 2011, 06:47:18 AM »

Anything new in tires these days?  I will probably be replacing both front and rear on my 07 Springer this summer at some point.

Pirelli Night Dragons.

I put a set on my Night Train and I like them a whole lot better than the Metzler's that were on it. Plus the sizing is closer to stock whereas my Metz's looked one size skinnier than stock.

I had a chat with a sales rep today at an event, he told me that the Pirelli and Metzler tyres are produced in the same factory, that the compound of the Night Dragon and the ME880 would be bout the same, just the tread profile is different.

Any new views on performance of both, I have the ME880 on my dyna but they wear pretty flat with no so many KM`s on the highway, (yeah I know I should do more curves) the HD Dunlop will last longer (07 Springer) but the whining is driving me nuts and this last set are very slippery on the turns!
I will definately choose another brand when the time comes, unless HD Dunlop come up with a new tyre by them.

I replaced my tires a few weeks ago; Went with Avon Cobras, AV72 rear and AV71 front ; only have a hundred miles on them, in good conditions ; but they work great so far and have much better looking tread pattern than the stock HD Dunlops.
