Rear shock oil

I had my rear shocks off and let one fall over, next day oil all over the floor.  The book says do not lay shock on side.  Do I really have to buy new shocks  just because some oil drained out?

No, but you do have to refill it with the same oil as the other side and the same amount!  That's the tough part.  Nobody seems willing to admit to making the stockers, so no one will fess up to how much and what weight goes in her!
