Fuse, or????
« on: August 15, 2011, 01:58:08 PM »

Went to the garage this morning to get the bike out. Turned on the ignition,
hit the starter buttom, started to turn over then "click". No power, lights
or anything. I had no time to check it out, so I will look tonight.
Sounded like the main fuse, but could it be the auto compression release
that kicked it out?
I have a new battery, and the terminals are all tight, but it still has been hard
to turn over the last couple of weeks. Any ideas? It's a 06 SEUC.

I don't think there is a compression release on a 2006? (It had the 103" motor).

Nope, the '06 did not have compression releases.

Even new batteries can suffer catastrophic failures due to internal shorts or broken cell connectors, so I wouldn't just assume the battery is OK because it is relatively new.  The description of harder starting over the past couple weeks could also indicate that the battery wasn't up to snuff or the charging system wasn't charging properly.

Start with the basics.  Check the maxi fuse, check the battery with a voltmeter and/or have it load tested, check all the connections with a meter, not just visually, etc.
