Anyone done a comparison of stock oil cooler/chrome cover vs. uncovered cooler?

I get the feeling my stock oil cooler with the chrome cover is doing very little to cool my oil.  Anyone taken off the chrome cover for a cooling comparison?

Take a hard look at the cooler fins themselves and see if they are clogged. Its kind of hard to see if they are as little pebbles get jammed in there. Mine was perhaps 80% clogged and until I removed it, it looked clear to me.
