Rear Saddle Bag Guards
« on: August 19, 2011, 04:40:24 PM »

Is the FLHXSE2 missing mounting points for a rear saddle bag guard kit?  I remember just buying the guards on my FLHX but from reading the description for FLHXSE2 it appears I need to buy a lot more to get rear saddle bag guards to work?

Its fairly easy, you will need the guards and the actual mounts that the saddlebags sit on.  Your current mounts won't work.

He has used the Comfort Profile Rear Saddlebag Guard Kit (pn: 49179-09) and powder coated them black. If you want the standard ones (pn: 49283-09) they come already gloss black. Both require separate purchase of Saddlebag Supports P/N 49194-09, 90781-09 and Nut P/N 7531 (Qty 2).

For the chrome version the MoCo has a kit part number that includes supports and guards for those wanting to add guards that didn't have them to begin with.  A bit cheaper than parting it all out.  49282-09B for the 09 and newer bikes and 49291-07 for the older bikes.

Or buy everything used off of eBay.  Even cheaper.   ;)

And if you are going to have them powder coated anyway, the chrome doesn't need to be perfect.

Yep.  If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand.  (I read that on a t-shirt once, maybe twice)
