I have installed the SE Ventilator on my '10 SEUG and have been plauged by severe oil misting over the right side of the engine/bike.  Originally found two of the o-rings damaged and replaced, still leaking but perhaps not as bad.

Happened to be browsing AIM Sept '11 issue and noticed they were doing a tech article on installing the SE Vent, p 108 if anyone has it handy.  Came across several things that were different and would like your comments.

Firstly, they used teflon tape and 1044 sealing compound on the breather bolts.  No mention of this in the instructions although it probably couldn't hurt; not familiar with 1044 compound.

Secondly, and more significantly, in fig 5 "..now plugs the two supplied breather plugs onto the two breather bold nipples. Puts hoses in the back of their grooves in the back plate and aims them (hoses) into the throat of the throttle body".  There is no mention of the nipples or hoses in the instructions and they are not included.

The original breather did have nipples/hoses entering the filter and presumably dumped the oil into the intake. 

Amazingly, I'm now more confused than normal!

Is talking to yourself (arguing?) another sign of senility?

Just took another look at the SE Ventilator, isn't leaking from the head bolts penetrating the heads but still the source of oiling.  It appears HD has changed the design.  The current version has a passage partially through the bolts, venting into a chamber and passage that empties through two holes above the air intake.  Presumably the idea is for excess or pressurized oil in the rocker box to be dumped into the AC and then sucked into the air intake due to vacuum.  Good idea but apparently doesn't work, probably under low vacuum conditions.

I also wonder if the more efficient cam design (Andres 54h) may produce more rocker pressure or something thus blowing more oil???  It doesn't appear to be dependent on the level of the oil in the sump...

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You could mod it for atmosphere venting.
