Any recommendations between these two marine head units? Thanks for any opinions.  Really worried about rain/water issues.

I just pulled the predecessor unit out of my 05.  It worked fine.  Only came out because I wanted one of the digital media player radios that "eats" the iPod internally.

The one I just took is the CDX-M50iP.  It has built in iPod controller, front aux in jack, pre-amp outs, and illumination switchable between blue and a red that is a good match for the stock gauges.  It worked flawlessly with the stock handlebar controls using the HawgWired interface kit.

If you're wanting to put a toe in the water cheap consider this take-out head unit.  $50 and it's yours shipping included.

That is a marine unit.  It was in that range when new.  Just offering since it's no longer being used.

Thanks for the offer, but to keep everything under a single install, I am getting all the equipment through my install guy who has been around for 25 years -- this way, if I have a problem, he can perform the warranty work as well.

Completely understand.  Single source options can make things so much easier later.
