Rear cylinder not running
« on: September 19, 2011, 09:46:47 PM »

Any help would be appreciated, On a ride week ago Sunday and the bike quit running on rear cylinder... Originally thought it was the coil as I was not getting any spark to the rear plug even after switching the plugs.  Put a new coil in today.. getting plenty of spark to both cylinders.  put new plugs in..  still rear cyclinder is not running...

Reason I do not think now it was the coil is I noticed today that if the front spark plug is not connected there is no spark to rear.. do not remember if front was connected when we tested it on the ride.

It appears that there is no fuel getting to the rear cylinder...  any suggestions on what to do next...

Thanks again...

Sounds like it is in "parade" mode.  Any chance it got "stuck" in that mode?  Should be clear I don't know much about what I'm talking about - just wondering if that is possible.

Good luck!

No where near enough information to make a good diagnosis, but if you've confirmed you have a good spark the next obvious item is fuel.  As noted earlier, check the wiring to the injector.  It's not unheard of for the wires to become chafed/broken up under the tank, or the terminals to be pulled loose at the connector.

Consider a quick shot of starting fluid while it is idling to see if the rear cylinder comes to life. Remember to keep your face away from the intake during this little test.  :2vrolijk_21:
