SBB has the same bike.  He'll have a good recommendation.  If he does not respond to the thread, send him a PM.

I'd go with the race tuner!  :2vrolijk_21:

Nice bike.  I own a black '01.

Is it popping on decel?  Or, otherwise running badly?

In any case, I'd go with the rece tuner.  I had a Throttle Positions Sensor (TPS) go bad.  It the "potentiometer" just behind the breather on the rear side of the bike.  The race tuner allowed me to find the dead spot in it.

In full disclosure I've long since shed the M&M EFI.  Put in a ThunderMax.  It's working extremely well so far.

What is your tuner's preference.....what does he have the most experience tuning?

Yes it has the popping during decelerating also eratic idol when cold and heistates for the first mile or so. My tuner recommended the race tuner but just want some opinions from other experience's.

I would use what every one the person actually doing the tuning recommends.  The people doing the tuning usually recommend the one they use the most and are most familiar with.

I had a Black/Grey 2001 SERG..  They were notorious for having intake manifold leaks at the head, which will cause the issues you are experiencing.  Something you may want to check prior to your tune.

I ran a Power Comander on mine, but only because it was the choice of my tuner.  I was happy with the results.  You can accomplish your goals with either tuning device...

To check for intake leaks spray carb cleaner or WD40 on the intake flanges. If the engine idle changes you have a leak. To check for exhaust leaks take your long neck Bic Clicker fire starter and hold it up against each joint or flange starting from the head back. If the flame flickers you have a leak there.

Since your bike is an M&M your options are limited. On my old '01 I yanked off the ECM and throttlebody and went with the Zippers conversion kit. NOT cheap but it works well. I should have gone carb.

My tuner recommended the race tuner but just want some opinions from other experience's.

This is one thing on your bike that you're going to be better off going with what your tuner suggests (it's where his experience lies).

While my tuner may be great with the TTS, another tuner some place else may have more experience with the SERT or a Zipper's, etc.   If your tuner has a reputation for knowing how to really performance tune, I'd definately go with what he suggests. :2vrolijk_21:
