Modest Speeding is OK!
Just got a speeding ticket in the mail from a business trip to France a couple of weeks ago.
123km/h (110km/h zone)

68 Euros, but reduced to 45 if I pay within 45 days  :)

Geeezzz, what a beast!  Bet we could still beat him in the twisties.  Those things are really top heavy and a bit cumbersum in the curves.  When they first came out, I saw one that had gone down due to a metal part catching on the asphalt.  It was pretty scrapped up.  As a dragster, this is uber powerfull!

A bud in Edmonton, Alberta has one....has a custom plate on it: UMPH   ... and has jokingly wondered aloud how to hook up the fifth wheel trailer to it.

France isn't even the worst place to get caught with speeding I'm afraid - in Italy 60 km/h over the limit is even more expensive:  up from 3.200 Euro and 6 month to 1 year ban from driving  ::)

156 km/h in a 90 km/h zone will be considered deliberate almost everywhere I guess  ::)

How are the penalties handled within the EU zone?  Can understand the fines being easily transferrable.  But if, for example, you suffer that six month ban on driving from Italy would that also tranfer to Germany?

since this year the fines will be collected EU-wide - but the ban is only effective in the country it's imposed in  ;)

Had read where the collection of fines had gone EU-wide.  But hadn't thought about the other civil penalties until you mentioned it.

Give them time.  Brussels will control the rest of it sooner or later....

Hmmm, lets wait and see. The present model has an important shortcoming: the fines remain with the state that collects them so there is little interest for the state imposing them to invest the cost  ;)

Until now there has not been made much use of the new treaty ...

Bet we could still beat him in the twisties.

Those things are really top heavy and a bit cumbersome in the curves.

Any time, any road, fella.

Having owned 5 glides, I can tell you that even a stock Triumph Rocket III will; out manoeuvre, out accelerate and out brake any Harley. The Buells can; get round a corner quicker, brake better and have more top end. Mine hits the 6500 rev limiter at 172 mph in top gear and the fairing feels like it's going come off.

The ABS brakes are getting towards Goldwing territory. The lean angle before grounding is massively better.

The only thing that it lacks is the Harley mystique but I got a little tired of that in the UK when people started to wear HD socks and undies and make the whole thing so much of a uniform. NO REGRETS!
