I've seen bikes get extruded under the guard rail there and loose all their plastic. Its the last turn near the top where everyone gets a good view of the twisties below. Doc

 :soapbox:

Sorry to disagree Trapperdog but:  No.  It's not nice at all.  Lots of idiots.    That's the kind of irresponsible behavior that will eventually result in more regulations that none of us want.  Take it to Willow Springs or Buttonwillow, race tracks within a 100 mile drive.  There you can go fast... really fast.  There are many clubs who sponsor track days.  Riders showing off on the street for the camera operators that hang out there are a danger to themselves (fine) and innocents (not acceptable).  They are pretenders who can't really go fast.  One result is that now the CHP (CA Highway Patrol) blankets the area on weekends during the summer and has "Zero Tolerance Days" where you will be cited for one mile / hour over the speed limit.  Three summers ago, it also lead to the CHP pulling over ALL bikes and citing anyone with aftermarket pipes.  None of us need that.

       Okay.  I'm done venting now.   >:(   >:(

Although I've been known to drag a floorboard or two from time to time, if you re read my post, I'm not endorsing a particular behavior, only pointing out some nice saves. Most twisty mountain roads directly adjacent to highly populated areas have the same problem with reckless bikers attracting CHP.
We have the same problem up her in the Ca. bay area, just the nature of the beast.
Nonetheless, if you have ever had rear tire break loose in a corner and keep the bike upright, it's a nice save.  ;)

Agreed.  Thanks trapper.  I just live near the Mulholland area and it is a problem.  Did not mean to come down on you at all.  Have a friend who is now a quad because of stupid drivers so I'm a bit tired of it.  Thanks for your reply.

Looks like they were all breaking traction as they came across that new patch.

Definately pucker factor.....especially for those that nearly went over the front as their bikes regained traction (high siding).

Thanks for posting Roger.

A couple of weeks ago, we were headed out to dinner with another couple.
We took the car, and I have a magnetic orange sticker on the bumper
that says "Watch for Motorcycles"! Headed thru the twisties, (double Yellow lines)
and what comes running up on me? Street Glide! I'm going at least 10 over,
(like to run the car), but NOT fast enough for the biker. Passes me on a sharp
left hander! WTF!!!!! So much for "Watch out for Motorcycles"!

No problem, we have all been known to rant and rave a bit here.  ;D Easy to do when a friend or loved one has been involved in a tragedy

When the CHP shows up to that spot they ticket everyone including the spectators.  Doc

In the very 1st part of the video, the 1st crotch rocket is going through a right hand (from left to right on the screen).
Isn't that the same curve where a video showed another crotch rocket going into the turn then seeing CHP car in the apex, he kinda lifted, braked, then high-sided almost into the CHP cruiser?

Yes that's the same turn... I know that turn by the back of my palm.. Back in the 70's we used to hitch a 3 mile ride on our dirt bikes up Mulholland Drive to get to Briar Summit for some great dirt bike riding.. When we got to that turn, we slowed to a crawl, (in fact there are many) and i can remember a view idiots, mostly in Porsches taking them sideways without a care who was coming the other direction.. Still the same thing today, but a lot more people (idiots) are doing it.  Though some of those are nice 'saves' in the video it's hardly the best choice to brag about it.. lots of injuries and lost life's right there and the sad thing is many of them are/were innocent people on the way home or out for a sunday drive...  >:(
