Unfortunately most electrical parts are coming from overseas, especially Taiwan.  I'm with Toyota and we get a lot of electronics in our cars from there as well.

Small consolation, but at least it's not Communist China.  Also, Taiwanese have a very good standard of living compared to most Asian countries. If I had to chose from a list, they would be it.

Still, it does nothing to support our own economy.  At this time of high unemployment in our country, outsourcing borders on sinful.  There are many places they could very easily set up production in this country, therefore helping our own.

I think it has more to do with profit margin regardless.   If a Company can make a $1 more, they will sub out the work to another Country.  Sadly, they get away with it.

I can't go down the Political road here, but most if the US is OK with that...  I know alot here will say otherwise, but our actions do not support our idealogy.   I will be the 1st to admit it here.  I do try to make a consciuos effort to buy US but that is not always easy...

What opened my eyes was window shopping in a sport store and looking at knives.  I had a hard time finding one made in the US.

The cost of doing business in the US is higher than any other Country.  That means the prices have to be higher or profits lower.  If one cannot make a living at the lower level of profit, then only a few options ....raise price, close shop or find a place with a lower cost of doing business.  Simple...

Yet, we are always seeking LOWER pricing....

Other Countries have just taken the option to meet our lower pricing demands.  Is it at substandard quality? ....  not always.  There is a balance and I doubt anyone would continue a business without making a profit.  If a US business is not making a profit, they'll be out of business sooner rather than later..... someone has to pick up the demand.... and that means a place where the cost of business is less..... maybe Taiwan, China or other.

May say the business should just take a lower profit.... but, how many are willing to take a lower salary?

Facts are hard to face... and the Federal Gov't and State Gov't is to blame.... spending more than making and taxing individuals so they can spend more.  It has got to stop!

Don't forget where you live. America is the greatest country in the world. You are absolutley right! It is more expensive to produce goods here in the US. That's because we are what you might call a Super Power. I even understand that the world's economy is held fast by the wealth and power of the US economy.

There is a smarter way at promoting US manufacturing rather than just whoring out to cheap overseas labor. Long range planning, smart production techiques and working together as a team could prove a better option.

Funny, the company I work for imports ZERO products or pieces. We build everything in the US, including all of our electronic components. Amazingly we are very profitable. Maybe if they fired everyone except for some accounting folks and imported all their products from overseas sweat shops then they would make more money.

Fortunately I work for a weathly American businessman who believes is Honor and Dignity!

to blame the Gov't is assinine.  China has a much cheaper workforce.  Companies are willing to go to China & Mexico because they want huge profits.  Look at Apple.  If Companies like that were willing to make less in profit, it will not mean less salary for employees.  Get a clue.

and yes.  We are to blame for being will to buy our bikes and not try to find a way to get HD to manufacture in the US.  HD is also raking it in but yet, we hear of low pay and dealers closing.

do you realize the economy we are in?  If it was not for the spending, we would lose more jobs.  But yes, I do wish the 'Gov't' would spend less and also be able to tax those making more than $250k.  Even if we do see a reduction of 20% in taxes, to me if would mean nothing compared to someone who will pay 20% less taxes when he is paying 19 million in taxes.   Calculate the windfall for a middle class person struggling to survive vs some making so much as to pay 19 mill in taxes...

Guys, there's no room for discussing your political beliefs on this forum.....this is where it always runs off in the ditch.  This thread is locked.
