Need help with HD Super Tuner question
« on: October 17, 2011, 11:42:11 PM »

I bought a HD SuperTuner for my 2009 CUSE.  I have recently installed the Fullsac exhaust system.  Steve uses the MasterTune ECM with loaded maps.  HD service says I cannot resell my SuperTuner.  I would like to switch to the Steves maps on the MasterTune rather than redyno the bike every time there is a change but they are $400+ and I already spent $500+ on the SuperTuner product.  Any ideas why I cannot resell the SuperTuner?

Thanks.

If you installed it on your bike, it is married to that ECM.

What I'd like to know is if we can get tunes for the SERT that work well with the Fullsac x pipe. I can certainly see why there is a need to sell the TTS with the pipe but dang, for those of us who have already purchased the SERT what other choice do we have? Running across the rollers is our only choice unless there is a canned tune for the Fullsac. I'd like to change over but I'm not buying another tuner. I've already done that on my truck and I'm tired of spending cash on tuners to accomplish specific goals. Research prior to buying a system would have certainly given us this knowledge but when you're at the dealership forking out cash on initial purchase, what tuner to buy was left up to what Harley had to sell. Stupidity on my part but I doubt I'm alone. With all that out of the way...it sure would be nice to have a canned tune for the SERT. Maybe the two tuners are so different in their process that it's impossible to do.

The TTS Mastertune is nothing more than tuning software with an interface device, just like the ProSERT.  I'm running the ProSERT on my SESG3 with the "X" Pipe header and it runs great.  Go with whatever your tuner is comfortable with.  There's nothing saying that you have to use the TTS.  The benefit of getting the TTS from Steve is that he's already done the base "dyno" for your setup and will give you a close enough map.  Obviously, each bike is different, and you will be able to squeek out a little more from his map if you dyno, but nothing really noticeable.  If you do any changes to your bike after you put the TTS on, you'd have to do the same thing if you had the ProSERT and that's get it dyno'd or work with the software yourself.  Both devices have "self tuning" modes if you're inclined to use them.

Thanks RedDevil. I kinda get carried away at times and type before I think about it. Like the Road to Wellville, maybe a yogurt enema is in order.   :nixweiss: Just kiddin around, not a freak.
A live tune would work best so I'll look around my area and see what I can find if I get the xpipe setup. I had a canned tune installed with my Reinhart true duals and Big Sucker aircleaner so maybe that tune would be pretty close until I can get an actual roller tune. I'll probably hold until I change cams...no need to keep making changes and tuning for each change. Thanks again.

I spoke to Steve at Fullsac last week. the above is true...the best way to "dial it in" is to Dyno it. he even said that every bike and motor is a little different. My 2011 SESG actually has a SE hot cam installed after purchase along with a SERT. Steve told me that he didn't have a stock download for this so mine has to go on the Dyno.  I am ordering the stock HD head pipe that Fullsac ceramic coats and does an xchange for $199 along with the stock can modification with the 2-1/4" baffles that I'm having them install for $50....well worth it.  You can't get this set up for this price anywhere else...and it's been tested.

Base map or not. The bike still needs tuned. Why spend 400.00 for another tuning device that needs dynoed itself. Either way it needs tuned so use the 400.00 your thinking about using for a new device, and get it done right. Both devices tune the same way and get the same results,in the right hands.
