New to CVO Horsepower and question or two.
« on: November 18, 2011, 07:40:50 AM »

This is my intended next step.
I have already upgraded with Hydralic Cam tensioner Kit, Auto Primary Chain Tensioer
Power Commander III and Dyno Tune

Go through Don Mackie and have my SE103 heads Ported & Polished. Not only great work, I retain my SE103 logo on the heads.
Take DME's advice on which Cams to use
SE 10:5/1 Pistons
SE Pro Breather Kit
SE PushRods, HP Gaskets, HT Studs etc.

I am looking at a Vance and Hines "Power Duals" Manifold that uses the Xpipe design.
Vance & Hines Power Duals
http://www.vanceandhines.com/store/touring/headers/16759
It doesn't list a manifold for my 03 SERK, however local HD Performance Shop tells me they can get them for my SERK.

Has anyone installed one of these yet?
I would be interested in what they have to say about the manifold.

One of the reasons I am leaning this way is Maine's Loud Noise Law, mainly directed at Motorcycles.
They purposely did not state a specified Db level, but when stopped one can go to a state inspection station and From law revision 2011

B. Subsections 1 and 3 do not apply to a muffler or exhaust system of a motorcycle that does not emit noise, as measured in accordance with standards and specifications outlined in standard J-2825 adopted by the Society of Automotive Engineers in May 2009, in excess of 92 decibels at an idle and emits noise that does not measure:
(1) More than 96 decibels using the set RPM test or swept RPM test for an engine configuration other than a 3-cylinder or 4-cylinder engine configuration; or

I figure I can add these SupperTrapp Stout 4" Slip-Ons to theV& Hines and be in compliance.

The SuperTrapp Stouts' tapered core is minimally louder than stock for ’10 – ’11 FLH models. SuperTrapp Stout Slip-Ons provide a heavy, broad spread power curve right from idle w/ a 9.3 (16%) hp and 10.5 (14%) torque gain over stock (measured on a stock 2010 FLH). At 95.6 dB @ 2,000 rpm, or 2.4dB over stock, SuperTrapp Stouts are SAE-J2825 sound compliant.

With what I inted to do, should I do anything with the ThrottleBody EFI?

Thanks

You won't speak with anyone better nor more honestly forthcoming than Mackie.  And the work will be beautiful.  He'll already know your cam choices and what he's expecting to accomplish with the heads.  So ask him his recommendation for any throttle body changes.  If the work doesn't warrant a change he'll tell you, and if it does he won't oversell.

Once you get the air flowing better and you are on the right track with what you are doing, you will wake that twin cam up!!!! :2vrolijk_21:

I dont think he will use the SE pistons either.
do as he says and you will be fine.
