Jerry can/extra fuel?
« on: December 24, 2011, 11:43:26 AM »

Last summer on a trip through Nevada wished I had extra fuel; my buddy running a 5 gallon tank had fumes into the next fuel stop...barely made it...does anyone carry an extra gallon of fuel and if so is it a big hassle with the bike loaded down...the gas can that fits in the triangle of the saddle bag seems to be a great idea.  Appreciate any stories...side of the road/siphon from one tank to the other?

some riders from napa valley helped me out on the salt flats in Utah 2008 on the way to sturgis they used a camelbak bladder and tube for syphon and refuel worked great I now carry a couple of camp stove fuel bottles in case i run out together they hold about 1.5 liters can get about 20 miles  I feel if I have miscalculated worse than that I deserve to walk some,, ;D

Reda can.  Can't be beat.  Best wing tank for those long runs into enemy-held territory, and they don't leak,

Wonder if the plastic imparts a 'taste' to beverages in the Reda can? :nixweiss: spyder

At a rally in Texas someone siphoned gas out of my tank during the night.  The next day heading home, I ran out of gas.  Good thing my buddy was carrying an extra gallon in his saddlebag.  About two miles later, my buddy ran out of gas (I guess the gas thieves hit his bike too).  Luckily, his Springer had a reserve.

I now carry the Reda Can too, used to carry about 1/2 gallon in the MSR Aluminum Bottles.  Only had to use them a few times but the peace of mindhelps a lot.
