Pleasantly surprised with 110"
« on: May 07, 2013, 09:16:59 AM »

As I have posted on here in the Introductions section, I just got my first CVO.  It is a 2010 FLHXSE with the 110" engine.  My previous bike was a 2008 with the 96" Twin cam.  To be honest, I really expected to hear more noise and for the bike and engine to be rougher.  I am pleasantly surprised so far that the engine is quieter, smoother and runs REALLY well.  Much stronger and faster.  So far, I haven't ridden in the SC heat so we will see about that.  :)

I do see the posts on here about noises, etc but wondering if anyone had found something similar when switching.  I am really surprised and pleased by how this bike performs overall.

any mods to the bikes?  Heat is an issue in stock set-up.  New pipes and tuner will bring the heat down.  Some chatter in the valve train, but nothing serious

I have the Vance and Hines Power Dual Head pipes and Klockwerks exhausts, tuned with SE performance tuner.  So far, the bike runs and performs well.

Coming off of a 05 ultra with a 95" kit in it also had high comp pistons, cams and head work. I believe since I've done the exhaust and tuner, Fullsac 2" cores and DX head pipe with tts tuner and Steve's canned map. This bike flthcuse7 is cooler and quieter than my old one and love the torque with the 110.

I got my CVO last August and love it too.  Smooth and quiet.  It does run hotter than my old TC88 so I installed a Jagg oil cooler with electric fan to help with heat.  Otherwise I only have HD Street Performance slip ons and a Dynojet PowerVision tuner.

Good to see another SC member.  I used the DynoJet PV on my previous bike and actually worked directly with DynoJet on the beta testing.  I am very familiar with the PV and may move to that on this bike. My 2010 came with a SEPRO tuner but I really like the PV

Getting rid of the cat will allow it to run a good bit cooler.

So far I haven't noticed the 110" being any hotter than the 96" in my previous bike.  I'm sure removing the cat was part of the reason the PO went with the V&H  headpipes as you state.  Of course it hasn't hit summer yet here in the sunny south so we will see.
