Avon Cobra tires - tyres
« on: January 26, 2012, 07:14:03 PM »

Almost a drive train subject.

Anyone look at these yet?
Looked at and spoke to the Avon folks at the NYC show. Thinking about changing out the metzlers for these during 20% night next month.

Technically, from the discussion these will have some advantages over the 440's, if the hype is true.

I am a little disappointed with my last two sets of M 440's, especially when near the end of life for the tire.
The loss of grip on wet roads is understandable as the tire wears. But what is most uncomfortable for me is the loss of grip as the road surface gets cold.

I can't tell you how many I feel the rear slide on turns and downshifting.

I just changed out the HD Dunlops to Avon Cobra on my 07 Springer, pretty impressed so far!

Avon and Metzlers are produced in the same factory, I understand there compounds are the same, unless there is brand new product out that i havent researched yet, just a different tread pattern between the two.

Front: MT90B16 74H
Rear: 140/90B16 77H or 150/80B16 77V

rep said the Avon tire is closer to "real" size and Metzler is bigger e.g. the 150 is actually closer to a 155
