Wow!!! That brings back a lot of memories... I was stationed at Langley AFB, VA as a young Airman from 1984-1993 and got to witness this show first hand every Thursday afternoon. Almost every Base at the time had some Demonstration Pilots, and they had to keep their proficiency up to date. Also, because Langley was home to one of the Commander's in Charge... whenever he couldn't make the Trip to Nellis to "Approve" the Thunderbirds Shows for the upcoming season. They would visit Langley to perform for his approval.
My office, Civil Engineering, was responsible to layout the 'markers' needed for the pilots to relay critical locational information from the ground into their minds so as to keep their bearings while traveling at high speed in unfamiliar territories. Also, we had a Water Tower right next to our office building and watching the show from the 94' catwalk on the tower was simply amazing.
Thanks for posting this.
