spiced rum paint code
« on: December 30, 2011, 09:35:47 AM »

Can any help me with a paint code for spiced rum. I know it is top secret but all I want to do is paint my inner fairing. HD won't release the code and I can't buy a fairing already painted. They told me I couldn't buy a fairing painted spiced rum from HD. Called PPG rep here in Canada for paint code and was told they didn't have it but maybe a rep in the US might have the code. Also tried scanning the the color from the bike but no match. Really frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bike going into the dealers tomorrow & they are sending the inner fairing & lowers to approved HD painter in the UK, can't believe there is only 1 in the UK  :cucumber:

Have you tried to get the small bottle of touch-up paint from the dealer?   It seems odd that HD doesnt offer at least touch-up paint for the Spiced Rum.  I got a kit (base and top coat) of touch-up paint for the Krypto.  The codes are on the bottles.

I googled Harley Davidson Spiced Rum touch up paint and got  Spiced Rum and Pale Gold Leaf paint available from many dealers and ebay.   FIND ANOTHER DEALER

thanks Wayne G. If I can't buy it from another dealer in my area, I will buy it online from a dealer and hope the paint code is on it.

I wouldn't count on the paint code being obtained with the touch up paint.  The touch up paint is handy, but over-priced.  It's amazing that some custom painters somehow match the paint so well w/o having the codes released.  Good luck on finding one of those rare craftsmen/artists.  spyder

Just when I think I've encountered the pinnacle of HD pricing, I read that two bottles of touch-up paint will run you $40.  As a kid I recall that Earl Schieve could paint an entire car for $99.

I got the Spiced Rum code and paint from my local auto parts store. It's in the PPG book under Harley Davidson colors, but it's not listed as a 2010 color. I think it shows as a couple years prior color. They mixed about an ounce and took it outside for viewing next to my bike, then adjusted the color ever so slightly. My painter then used it to repaint the lower third of my saddle bag. After he feathered it in and re-cleared it, I got a perfect match and a spare left bag that is every bit as good as the new one I bought. Hope your results are good also.  RC
