2018 CVO Limited TPMS issues
« on: July 01, 2020, 06:38:13 PM »

I have a 2018 CVO limited and the TPMS does not read from time to time. The front was the first to mess up and now the back has followed suite. The pressure from the TPMS has dashes no numbers on both the GTS and the odometer. No rime or reason to how often it happened or how many times during a ride.
I have had my bike to the dealer twice (it is not in for the third time) and they cant seem to figure it out. Has anyone had this issue?

This happened to my 2016 CVO Limited last year. Dealer replaced the sensor in wheel. Problem solved.

The dealer did change out my front one when it started acting up but it continues to do the same and not the back one is doing it.

We have had the TPMS read zero for the rear tire when psi was about 50. Only happens after riding for 2 hours or more. No warning lights or messages displayed. It set a code once but the code was inadvertently erased without being recorded. This concern hasnt happened in over 1 year. Try to pull and record codes when the concern is happening to aid the dealer in diagnosis. Good luck!

As mentioned above, check for diagnostic trouble codes.

When you have intermittent failures that aren't "fixed" by changing the air pressure sensor, the dealer should continue with the diagnostic routines provided by Harley, not just shrug and give you the bike back unrepaired.  If it's not a sensor problem, then it's possibly a BCM problem (I believe the BCM is responsible for receiving and processing data from the sensors and forwarding it on to the display, but I might be wrong).

this has happened on my 16 rgu, when hot and tire pressure goes above 50 psi. always starts working again after tire cools, i think TPM sensor has a set value ( low high ) and the BCM cant read out side those values. i do some instrumentation work on the DCS system at my job and if a sensor gets a reading above or below its spanned value same thing happens, the operator's screen will show 102% or stars
