Hey everyone... the flush mount gas cap on my 2007 FXSTSSE has started falling apart and I need a replacement.  Has anyone else had to do this?  I have tried searching for a replacement on the HD website and all I can find is a complete cap & gauge kit to the tune of $199.  I don't need the LED gauge, wiring, or trim ring.  Just the cap.  I have a call in to my local HD dealer but figured I would try here too.  Anyone have a part number or know if the cap can be purchased separately?

I had mine replaced under warranty!! The cap stopped popping up

you have been looking at the moco p&a catalogue and found the gas cap and gauge kit. you need to go to your dealer service dept and speak to the parts guy who will look up the correct part number for the cap.
Sorry i dont have a part number, I have had no problem with my gas cap, only the deco ring which has fallen off a few times, I stuck that on with some quick setting montage adhesive last time, seems to be holding ok this time.

I actually repaired the old one and will carry it with me when I ride as a backup.  I have heard that these fail quite often and would not want to be far from home with no gas cap!

i have gone thru 2 of them on my 07 springer cvo. its a ripoff, but $65 and can be bought separately. made in china and HD won't replace them free.

i actually just replaced mine over the weekend. mine also stopped popping up. but i havd a knife so i would turn it and use the knife to help it pop up.eventually i stopped completely turning and everything. luckly the gas station i was at was only 2 blocks away from the dealer. replaced the gas cap and gauge whereas my gauge would malfunction sometimes and blink at me. so got the blue LED's in now with new gas cap and everythings working fine. i have the part number for it but it was the $199 one. the gas cap only didnt fit on my bike and only fit the blackline model. now i think cuz the LED's where fine it was wiring, were (me and my dad) gonna buy another and put it the heritage classic we have sitting around for nicer look. jm2c

This is a warranty item if it's no longer popping up.  I just had mine replaced for that reason (gas cap and trim ring only) on the 2009.  They redesigned the model to correct the defective model we had on ours up through 2009.  I don't have the part number but I can post it tomorrow.  If you have to buy it, it should be about $70.

My 2008 CVO Springer started having a sticky pop-up gas cap.  I tried WD-40 without out much improvement....I then tried white lithium grease and found a huge improvement.  Now the pop-up cap is back to like new....
