Color matched filler plug for the fender.?
« on: March 29, 2012, 08:08:10 AM »

Looking to replace the big 'ol chunky decorative thumbscrew seen here in the middle of my fender on my SERG.

This bike has never seen a two-up seat as I always ride solo on this bike.

Ideally it would be great to find a color matched plug that I could put in it's place to make it look as invisible as possible...

Or a silver flat type fitting that would mount flush to the fender...

Any ideas..?

How about one of the many styles of round caliper inserts made for the old style calipers?  If the actual nut for the seat stud extends above the surface of the fender, just remove it and stick the caliper insert over the hole.  :nixweiss:

They come in many versions, I've attached a photo of the page for one version.

Interesting Jerry, thanks...   now to look and see if there's a clean classy cvo styled small insert as your presented.

I'd still prefer a custom painted plug for the transparency but if unable to locate, this may out to be good alternative.  This might also keep me from having to remove the actual hardware that is currently affixed to the fender (small black capture ring beneath the decorative thumbscrew)

Get the little black plug that HD sells for the purpose of filling that hole.   They cost a couple bucks, and you could probably find a rattle can color close enough to match.  Just a thought.

Any chance you have the HD part numbers for these parts..?  I'll run over to the shop and see if they can find them...

I got the black plastic filler plug for the antenna holes from the dealership.  The painter matched the paint the best he could.  Not perfect but a hell of a lot nicer than that big ol' ugly black ringed hole......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=32927.msg629359#msg629359
