Map web sites for 660
« on: April 19, 2012, 10:13:24 PM »

I have used the HOG web page mostly to plan a ride and then move it to the 660. Here is the issue though: When you drag the route to change it (IE-side road rather than a 4 lane one) the HOG map adds a way point to the spot you moved the route to. You then can not get a real read on distance to the final destination and if you are not careful, you add loops to the route with way points 500 ft from each other. Goggle maps is the best to use, but for some dumb reason, it only allows you to transfer a route with the beginning and end points. I just down loaded Base Camp from Garmin and it does not allow you to drag a route to change it. Mapquest takes forever to adjust a route when you move a waypoint.

Anyone have a better option as a web based mapping program?

www.tyre.com took me to a tire shop in the UK, a search on Google for tyre provided nothing related to a mapping web page.

Thanks anyway for the try

Looks like a good one Kraut...ich danke Ihnen sehr!  How about the advertising on the free app?  Is it intrusive or minimal?

I have tried the Tyre program for a few days now and altough it is based on Google maps, the same issue is happening for me:
When you drag a route to  change it, it makes a waypoint. If you then remove the waypoint the route changes back to the one prior to dragging the change. This is the same reason why the HOG ride planner sux.

Cools mapping page and thanks for the help, but not enough of a difference for me to have another program installed on my desktop

I don't even realize it's there - but try it yourself, it's free and you can uninstall easily if you don't like it.
