2007 SERK shuts down at 3000 rpm, any gear
« on: March 28, 2012, 05:47:32 PM »

Has anyone else experienced a loss of power on accelleration exactly at 3000 rpm in any gear? According to the dealer only codes stored were from turn signal related issues.
The dealer is starting by checking fuel and electrical, I feel it has to be ECU related. Prior experience or good guesses are gladly accepted.

If there's no code associated with an obvious cutting out or shutting down situation I always doubt the crank sensor.  Often one of those pieces you have to just swap to know for sure if that's it too.

I dealt with a friends bike with just your symptoms...  It threw no codes either.  The problem was the crank sensor.  A simple, cheap fix...

Another vote for the crank sensor.

Thank you Gentlemen. I'm armed for my conversation with the dealer's SM!

Dealer has located the crankshaft sensor from their other store, and will install Friday. I'll let you know what happens as soon as they report.
Thanks again for the advice.

Final result: loose rear plug wire. The technician secured it and rode 10 miles two different times to be sure it was repaired.
I pick it up tomorrow.
Thanks again for the atttention.
At the least it backed up my conviction it wasn't fuel related.
