fullsac installation and heat shields
« on: March 22, 2012, 08:12:28 PM »

I have a 2012 SE Ultra Classic and had local dealer install fullsac 'B' pipe, 2" baffles and TTS today. Very pleased with installation and ease of mapping in the tune. My question is that the dealership seemed to have some difficulties with the installation of the heat shields on the stock mufflers after all was reassembled and left them off. Has anyone else run into this issue. I wonder if the exposed 4" exhaust will cause any problems with the bags.
Sure do want to ride but do not want to melt anything.
Please advise if any of you have run into this... Thanks...

It's so easy a "CAVEMAN "could do it!

I agree and I cannot understand the reasoning as to why the dealership did not install the last set back in place over the muffler.

I guess I am going to have to crawl under it myself tomorrow and eyeball it.

Did the dealer (a) tell you they had trouble, or did they (b) just "forget" to do it?  Either way, they're incompetent, since installing FS baffles doesn't prevent the heat shields from fitting.   >:(

As usual the advice here is right on. I sat down on the garage floor this morn and installed them myself. I will deal with them on the morrow and find out again what lame excuse they have for me now.
I do not mind mistakes but hate people who make lame excuses to try and cover up their incompetence.
Thank you again all for your responses.

Heck my dealer couldn't stop talking about how easy it was. They have now become a Fullsac dealer.

Personally I leave the heat shields off, they only destroy the looks of the muffler because you cannot clean & wax the muffler.  They really aren't necessary once you have removed the Cat & installed all the Fullsac & tuned it to run cool.

There is obviously no harm in running them, the mufflers just get trashed.  IMHO...  :nixweiss:

I don't mean to hijack the thread but are there any issues running without the muffler shields, I have a race tuner, big sucker and Fullsac pipe and cores.
