What's a good pad to use for replacement? My brakes are mushy and unresponsive!

Lyndall Racing Brakes, part number 7195-Z.  Much better feel than stock, and also much cleaner.  Same number for front and rear, 3 sets in all.  You can find them at competitve prices at many of the online stores.

If after new pads the Lyndalls mentioned above are difficult to improve on.  If you've got a soft brake pedal are you sure it's pads and not air in the system though?

CVowner, Happy Easter to everyone. I don't see how thin brake pads would cause your pedal or lever to feel mushy. Have you taken a good look at them to see how thick they are? Maybe they just need to be bled.BTW how many miles are on your pads? CAHDBIKER

:2vrolijk_21:  Could be air in the lines, could be contaminated pads and rotors, could be glazed or severely worn pads, etc.  Proper diagnostics should come first, then if you need new pads the Lyndall's are an excellent choice.

It hasn't been mentioned as of yet but since your bike is an 04??? I think... you could look at cleaning the pistions in the calipers themselves, but as Jerry suggested proper troubleshooting before replacement should be conducted.

IMHO Lyndall's are the best and I have been using them for years. Still can't decide if the Gold series is better but????

Lyndall pads out front and rear, when I need new rotors on my dime I will purchase them as well.  As previously mentioned follows Jerry's protocol.  50K miles on my 08 SERK, 2 sets of out of spec rotors replaced by MOCO, I replaced the rear rotor with OEM this winter, not polished but they don't show.  Bled fluid for clutch and brakes.  Lyndall pads not only improve the stopping power they are cleaner and last much longer.

Mushy and unresponsive has nothing to do with the pads. Sounds like air in the lines.
