So what does it take to do a 117? Major or minor work?

$$$$$$$ and more $$$$$$$..... And then it just never ends.  $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Cases need to be bored to accept the larger cylinder spigots, Timken bearing conversion at that point.
Crank needs to be balanced for the heavier pistons, and welded as well.
Existing cylinder heads need attention, 58 t/body, cams for the riding style/needs, and a good exhaust.
That said, a 117"er is born.
On the flip side of this, approx $300.00 additional dollars, when doing so, will bring a 124"er into the picture. :)

Considering all the work that is completed taking an engine to 117" is there any reliability issues taking it to 124"? Longer stroke I take it. Should research this a bit before asking questions but I had to chip in.

Yes the stroke is 4 5/8", combined with a 4 1/8" hole, establishes a swept volume of 124".
No longer stroke than an 89" Evo kit, or a 74" Iron XL. :)
