660 questions
« on: April 16, 2012, 06:07:00 PM »

I have 2 questions;
Bike is a 09 SERG with stock radio and upgraded amp and speakers
how can I hard wire the GPS so that voice prompts come through the radio (my mount is above the tach/spedo cluster)

does anyone make some type of glare shield that fits over the top of the 660 to help with sunlight.

also need a new case if someone has an extra one. Dog ate the last one.

Route the audio output from the GPS to the Auxiliary Input on the radio. Place your radio in the "AUX" input mode and you are good to go for all functions of the GPS. If you want to listen to an FM radio station and still receive turn prompt then look at the Navigation Interface Module (NIM) from Harley. This module will automatically interupt the radio station for turn prompts only and then return the radio to the FM station when the turn prompt is finished. You will still need to route to the AUX input in order to hear MP3 or a phone call from the GPS. This module will only work if you have a Road Tech 660 or 665 GPS.

You can call me if you have other questions about doing this or you are confused.

Thanks Jim thats great to know. I have a high dollar system on my long distance helments that I never use now that is bluetooth. wife doesnt ride much anymore so it just sits in the closet most of the time. Its on a Shark Evo, good helment it just a little heavy and its hot. Any real advantage to your system? I would still need some type of mike on the helment??

Hey Biglew, I was reading on the roadglide forum about the glare problem. Nobody seems happy with the glare shield I think called nushield. Some have purchased the visor JC mentioned and added a wire in the outer edge to add some stiffness to it. If you are using the Iron Aces mount here is a picture of one the was tilted with spacers and hardware. I am going to try this with mine. Need to get 2 longer screws from Hardware store. I will let you know how it turns out.   FACE

Lew that's not my bike. The port he is using is just a audio out. Not sure why he is using it. Mine is wired in from the mount.  Face
