Saddle Bag Guard

Has anyone found it necessary to install these guards to prevent your BSR legs from rubbing on the saddlebags?

If her legs are rubbing that hard on the bags, she won't be happy with the version you show in that picture since it will rub on her leg all the time.  You might want to look at the Comfort version which has an angled top bar.

I've been running the comfort version for many years now and highly recommend it.  Switch between view one and view two in the photo in the following link for the visual difference.

Thanks Jerry. I am also worried about the wear on the bags. This is my first bagger without the guards all my others had the guards installed at the factory.
I am planning on a 10 day trip and I am a little worried about the wear on the paint. ( Don't tell her ) Lol

One way of avoiding wear on the bags is to raise the passenger floorboards to their highest poisition... That is of course if you have adjustable boards installed.

Just a thought.

You can also apply some of the clear paint protection film on the bags at the contact points.  When it's done right, it's hard to tell it's there.

I would recommend the comfort version of the guards, if nothing else but for the protection they afford her legs if the bike goes over plus some protection for the bags  as well.  Then apply the protective film to the bags where her legs make contact.

I have the comfort bag guards on my bike, and motorcycle armour on the bag lids.  Both give added piece of mind for me and the BSR.   :2vrolijk_21:
