Gap between inner and outer fairings on Seeg
« on: May 06, 2012, 12:10:45 AM »

I have a gap on the lower right hand side where the fairings meet.  Not sure if the inner is warped or not.   Is there a fix for this one?  Be nice to just pull the two closer together when reassembling the front of the bike.  :nixweiss:

I realize this is kind of silly, but check that all the screws are tight... Just last night I had to remove my outer fairing and to my surprise, two of the screws were loose and one almost fell off in my hand after a couple of twists!

Good thing for me I just happened to be working on it when I was or no doubt it would have vibrated loose and would be gone.

No,  they are as tight as can be.  I had the thing apart yesterday playing with speakers.  So the screws are didinitely in there. I'm thinking that maybe the cables from the amp or something might be distorting the outer and keeping it dorm meeting the inner properly. Lots of wiring it that area.   :nixweiss:

I know that if you over tighten the top screws that it can pull out the well nuts or whatever the hell they're called out of the inner fairing. Then the screw is tight, but there is a gap in closing. Not sure about the side and bottom screws though as they thread into the outer fairing. I'd pull the outer fairing and check to see that all the nuts are where they should be and not being pulled out, if that makes sense...

Open it up again, most likely you are right and have a cable or connector pinched between the fairing halves or laying on something in a tight space

i went on a mission today to fix that "gap" between the fairings,,   maybe just a bad fit.   so i made a bracket  and was able to lift the inner out just enough to close it up..  nice way to spend a sunday afternoon...  I'm glad I have an understanding wife.

Nice going Mr. Fixit   ;D

Looks much better now.  :2vrolijk_21:

Isn't it a shame though after spending $30K+ on a bike, that you have to make your own brackets for a proper fit?
