Yep, different barz, JC. Mine are for earlier bikes - 55935-98

http://www.eharleyparts.com/cart/Harley-Davidson_Touring_2_inch_Pullback_Handlebar_Kit,_1997-2001_Electra_Glide_Models_55935-98_55914-98

Jim

Well, that might explain it.

They say 2" up and 2" back but Terrie has them pulled back even further, so she's able to use her fairing mounted mirrors.  I'm thinking in that position, they're probably 1" up and 3" back. :nixweiss:  Neither her or I (nor any of the other Street Glide owners that have switched to these) had to buy anything other than the bars.  The wires and cables....just a minor re-routing Jim said (he's done all the work on our current bikes).

I've got a couple more questions before I start whipping out the charge card.

Again, I have a 2006 SEUC, and the stock bar is 56007-04. The 'right' reach bar for my year above is 55914-98 (dealer says this supercedes 55935-98 mentioned above)

The while I cannot find the Handlebar spec's for the stock 56007-04 bar, I believe it is 30.25" wide, 15.75" Base Width, 6.25" Pull back, 3.50" Knurl, and 9.75" rise.

The spec for the 55914-98 is 30.75" wide, 15" Base Width, 8" Pull back, 3.50" Knurl, and 12.25" rise. So, instead of 2" up & 2" Back, it's more like 2.50" Up and 1.75" Back, and 0.50" wider, which is fine. The one issue is, the 55914-98 is NOT drilled.

So, provided I have that all correct so far, my question is, I believe the reach bar for the 08+ is the 56176-08 which has similar spec's, 30.75" wide, 15.25" Base Width, 7.50" Pull back, 3.50" Knurl, and 12.25" rise.  However, I believe this bar IS drilled, is that correct?

What I'm eventually driving at (drum roll) is,  if they are all 1" bars, and the knurl center is the same, and the rough dimensions are the same, why can't I just go with the 08+ reach bar?  I would really, really like to avoid drilling the bar if I can.  Is there anything in particular that will cause a problem?

BTW - Regarding all of the above, is the ID of these bars .875" so they will clear the Heat Demons?

Thoughts from the experts will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

They are definitely pre drilled

as for everything else, I dont know. I will say this, if they would work on your bike then the part number would end in 06, not in 08

It may just be because these are the throttle by wire bars and they have the cut outs

go to the dealer and look at them both?!?!?

I've called around and nobody has these in stock to inspect side by side. Special order, which is why I'm trying to figure out these questions.

OK - Another question.

The Reach Bar arrived, PN# 55914-98 as recommended above.  I knew they were not drilled, but as I'm trying to translate the hole locations, I'm noticing that the bars are indented or crimped in about 4" up near the last handgrip bend on the bottom side of the bar. While you can't see it, unless you flip them upside down, it significantly diminishes the diameter of the bar and I wonder if the wiring will push through that area?

Worse, where the holes would need to be cut for the hand controls, the indentation is starting to transition back, so it's going to be a real bear to drill nice holes that will fit the grommet. And, even if I can get the hole drilled, and the wiring will fit through, it's going to be forced into a tight 90 coming out.

Has anyone really drilled the 55914-98 themselves, and made this work. I'm just not seeing it?

This is turning into a frigging nightmare!  I still wonder why I can use the 08+ bar 56176-08? Does that have the indentation on the bottom too?

Sure would appreciate any guidance here!

I put a set of WO575's on my SESG...very happy with them. Pullback is about 2" more than stock.

Just received the same bars yesterday and when I install them in the next month, I am hoping they meet my needs with the 2" pullback.

Well, without any further guidance on the matter, I'm just going to order the 56176-08 and hope it's just the notch on the end of the right bar that causes the difference. I'm thinking that should not effect anything, and the 08+ bar should work just fine.

I put these on my 2010 Crimson black bike. This is the chrome version of the black ones I used. All the OEM wires, cables, and hoses worked without replacing anything. Saw them in Sturgis and like them after sitting on a street glide with them installed. Your hands remain behind the batwings of the fairing.

As an update, I completed the job over the weekend, and the 08+ Pull Backs worked just fine. You just have to make sure you don't shove the grip on too far when mounting the clamps.  When you have everything together, just work the throttle a bit. You can feel when the notches start touching the inside end of the grip. Just slide the grip out another 1/16" to 1/8" to give it a bit of clearance, and it's perfectly fine. The nice thing about the 08+ Pull Backs are, they are predrilled, and the grip holes are larger making it much easier to fish the wires.

i just dropped my 07 screamin eagle ultra off at my dealer yesterday to have 575 bars put on,went back today and guess what all the cables are to short.i already was going to change the hydraulic clutch hose to +2 which is ok,but the throttle cables and brake line are to short.my 600.00 bar change has become 1500.00 with the extra cables and labor.there ad says they will work but they wont if you want the cables to route the original way.the 575 feel better than the hd pull back bars, and they do look good being the 1 1/4.so be prepared to change all the cables.

Geez I don't even want to hear this news   :'(.  I have the same bars sitting out in the garage to be installed this month and I was told that the existing lines would work. Maybe there is a difference between '07 and '12 and also between the SG and the Ultra.  :nixweiss:

i asked for bars that were 2" closer to me - i need to sit straight up on long days. what they gave me are swept back more - the stock ones are too swept back for my wrists. [too many years typing] so i ride one handed a lot - that way i can sit up and reach

ick

still looking for bars for my ultra that are straight back 2" or so
