Anyone have any idea on what would cause my bike to have the mileage drop from the 40 mpg range to around 26 to 28mpg? I did not have any tuning work or mods of anykind since last fall. Over the winter I installed a new rear tire, bearings, rotor & Lyndall pads. They roll quite nicely. Due to hitting an object in the road the dealership installed a new front wheel, bearings, replaced warped rotors and removed my Lyndall's & installed OEM's. They drag a little when on a lift but it's not that bad. It did roll nicely prior to the OEM's. I have been soaking a rag with brake cleaner to do the rotors, I do this weekly when I check for air pressure. The only difference I noticed when removing it from my heated garage for the first ride of the season was that the clutch plates seemed to be stuck. As soon as I shifted it into first it lurched ahead and stalled. I ended up after warming it up and starting it in gear with the clutch in and that seemed to release them. Once warmed up the problem disappears. Two winters ago I did the 30T sprocket change, SE compensator, Energy One BTXP-14 clutch with the AIM VP92T kit. And replaced a badly stripped clutch hub. With the exception of the primary chain everything has been replaced in the primary.
The bike runs very hot and goes into parade mode even when it's not hot out. The fuel filter has been changed on the recall plus I had it replaced at 40,000 miles. I have 50,000 miles on my 2008 SERK and it runs well just hot. I have a Zippers open element, RHTD, and the SEPST tuner. It ran fine last year but it has always run very hot. I have the Baker +1 oil pan and use HD formula + for the primary, Redline for the trans, Amsoil 20/50 for the crankcase. I changed the plugs twice just in case.
I want to sell my bike private sale but want it running well before I list it.
I must be missing something, a 10mpg drop is not normal. Any ideas?
