« on: May 20, 2012, 06:06:02 PM »

Are there any videos of how to remove forks and install new monotubes for a 09 SERG?

Did it on my SEUC, not hard at all. Getting them off and on was hardest thing. Still takes 5ozs of fluid on outside of cartriges. New fork seals a must. Doubt you will find a video, it is pretty straight forward.

The service manual says 10.7 oz. of oil.  Would this be the same with the monyube setup?

No. Follow the instructions for that come with the monotubes:  5 oz.  On th SERG, remove front caliper and hang on the crash bars. Then remove front wheel and fender.  Next remove center instrument nacelle.  That gives you access to the triple trees so you can remove and drain the forks.  You'll need a tool to hold the forks to open the top.  I used a friends pipe vice and lots of duct tape to protect the chrome.  You can also take the forks to the dealer for install.  Hope this helps.

BTW, you might want to search youtube for an instructional video.

Who's monotubes???

Howard has a video up on his site that shows you, but I didn't watch the 'monotube install' part. I'm guessing it's for his monotubes. It probably translates well for other brands of monotubes.

Google Motorcycle Metal. It'll come right up.
Just scroll down, it's in there somewhere.....I watched it Friday night.
