FM Reception?
« on: May 14, 2012, 07:33:26 AM »

I finally picked up my new '12 Street Glide this weekend. I love it! I seem to have less than stellar FM reception though. Is this normal? I can get a few of the closer stations pretty clear, but there are some stations in my car that sound fine that don't come in at all on the bike.

Thanks in advance,
KF

There's an FM radio on this thing? I only use the ipod. The few times I did listen to radio the reception was terrible.

OK, I had a feeling that was the case. Just wanted to be sure it was normal.

I'll use the iPod most of the time anyway. Plus I'm a big Pandora fan, so I'll just pick a station on my phone and throw it in the fairing pouch. I just ordered some L-Shaped adapters so my Galaxy Nexus will fit in the center pouch a little better while plugged in. I noticed too that I can push the volume rocker through the pouch, allowing me to skip songs on the road. So I'm pretty happy with that setup.

Still, it seems like they could make the FM come in a little better. Are there any simple, cheap reception boosters that people use?

I'm between Chicago and Milwaukee and the FM here is great.  On my suburban, I can hear Chicago FM halfway to Indianapolis.  Coming back from there on the bike, I couldn't get them until Valparaiso.  Gonna stick with the long antennas and maybe subscribe to XM since it's already in there.

Sounds like this is normal, but for comparison sake I tested how many stations I can get hitting SEEK in my garage. My car is parked right next to the bike:

The car found 32 stations, almost all sounding crystal clear.
The bike got 9, with many of them having at least some static.

Oh well! Still happy as a clam!
