09 SERG...Getting loose in Sweepers
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:08:02 PM »

I'm starting to experience a wiggle while taking sweepers aggressively...seems like the SERG is getting loose...I'm Running Progressive 940's and change them out to 440's from time to time, the problem remains with either set of shocks.

I changed the fork oil at 40k service, tire pressure 42lbs front and rear...

ANY SUGGESTIONS ??

Swingarm bushings/rear engine mounts perhaps?  The new style frame and front engine mounts did a lot to reduce the rear steer of the older bikes, but they didn't really change the design of the rear mounts and the swingarm bushings.  It's something to check out.

Time to call True-track?   I thought the new frame doesn't have that issue, like the older ones  :nixweiss:

Tire pressure kind of high, no?

Manual calls for 36 front/40 rear. With the warmer weather, maybe they are getting even more over inflated, thus your newly felt squirminess.

Cupped tires will make you think it's all coming undone. Our bikes/tires are notorious for that.

These are all good suggestions...thanks

I'm going to start with checking the triple trees, bushings, lower tire psi and installing new Progressive Monotubes..

09 have a lot of wheel bearing problems, mainly the right front.

I had the same problem with my 09 SERG the handling was just not as crisp as it had been and it was feeling sloppy in the curves. I moved to the progressive monotubes and the problem was history. The upgraded suspension was the best money I've ever spent on this bike.

knothead. My 07 did that once. I took a sweeper too hot, and almost lost it. After that, it wouldn't corner for nothing. I finally determined it was fear. Stopped and drank 1 beer. All the fear went away, and the bike started conrerning again. Try drinking a beer.  ;D
