The bolt is supposedly supposed to be part of the kit (see attachment).  Regardless, I think it would be a good idea to replace it each time.

You might want to verify they gave you the correct kit; the old kit didn't include the bolt but the new one does.  See attachment for differences.  The shaft extension and sprocket retainer were changed to make installation of the thrust washer easier, and the number of parts in the replacement part kit changed.

This is classic Harley.  It is def the new parts... No F'n bolt inlcuded in the kit.

I found a dealer that had the bolt.

Back together and running good.

I hate HD Moco.  I like their motorcycles.

So is the 09a the Screamin Eagle compensator?

And do you use the old springs?

Which kit do I use for 2009 FLTRSE3?

The -09A kit is just the wear parts, not the entire kit to convert an older style compensator to the SE version.  The current full kit part number is 40274-08A.  There has been talk that there may be a new version coming out shortly, but I haven't seen anything official about that.  The kit has been on backorder but should be available in limited quantities now according to the dealer web sites I've visited.

Thanks grc.  So to be clear, if I want to put the Screamin Eagle compensator on my 2009 FLTRSE3, I get the 08A, and can use the method described in another thread (http://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/625001-installing-se-compensator-kit-w-pics.html) to put it on?  Thanks

I put the 08A kit on my wife's 09 exactly as described in your HD forums link.

I would wait until after the 2013 model dealer meeting (in a few days) to see if there is indeed  yet another updated compensator later than the 08A.

My 2010 came factory installed with the SE compensator and was worn out at exactly 20,000 miles.
