Garmin 660 question.
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:12:36 PM »

I ride a 2008 FLHTCUSE. It has the handlebar mount for a Garmin 550 and the audio cable.  The previous owner kept the 550.  I am considering a 660.  Can anyone please tell me if the power connector is the same for the 550 and the 660? if not what is different ? It also appears that I will need a new handlebar mount for the 660.  Is this correct?   Thanks for the help in advance.  Much appreciated!!

If you are talking about the following mounts....

Zumo 660 Mount

Zumo 550 Mount

No it will not work they are not compatible. The power/data data connections of the 550 are on the bottom of the 550 and mount. On the 660 the power/data connections are on the back of the 660 and in the middle of the mount.

I have the same bike as you. If you decide to go with the 660, the dash mount is clean. I'll get you the part numbers that you'd need. I didn't cut my dash pad, just ordered a precut incase I got rid of bike and wanted to keep my gps. But you could save a few $ just by cutting yours. Very easy install.
