Dyna FXDC vs FXDF fork tube lengths
« on: July 11, 2012, 02:07:24 PM »

I am in the process of building a 49mm wide glide front end. I just ordered Custom Cycle Engineering kit to make a 49mm front end to my 2000 FXR4 CVO. My old front end  was a 39mm  with the late 2000 style dual brakes. I already bought FXDF Fat Bob lower legs for dual disk. The axle will be made to 3/4" so my wheel will work without having to buy a new wheel. I know the FXDWG fork tubes are 2" longer than the FXD but what about the FXDF FatBob length? Is the FXD length same as FXDF? What is the measurement on FXD and FXDF from the top of the lower tree to axle center? Different web sites show different meausurement on the fork tube itself. What is correct. Some sites list FXD as 25.5" and the FXDWG as 27.5" but no one list the FXDF lengths. Is this because the two are the same? it seems the more I look the more cunfusing it gets. It just not simple anymore. I want the bike to sit close to stock. If forks are too short then it is too low and it already sits low, too long then I gotta get a loger kickstand and the bike gets top heavey. I want to get the correct length the first tim, parts get expensive quickly. I appreceiate any help.
