Fuel Filter Change and new Lifters
« on: June 17, 2012, 10:50:23 AM »

I have a 2005 Ectra Glide Classic CVO with 55,000 miles and have a couple of questions. I need to change the fuel filter. Can someone guide me through this? My service manual is not CVO Specific so I don't know if there are any tricks. Do I have to pull the tank off? Second question: I have a lifter that bleeds down sometimes so I plan on changing the lifters. I already have adjustable SE pushrods. Anyone have a good source and P/N for lifters instead of going to a dealership for HD lifters?

Thanks for the help.

Nothing CVO specific about the fuel filter.  So your service manual is fine.  Quite a few options for lifters.  Some very pricey.  The very pricey ones come with significant hyperbole and, perhaps, other benfits as well.  A good one that's proved to hold up well and is only normally, rather than stupidly, expensive is the HP+ lifter set from Feuling.  Drag # on the lifters is 0929-0005.  Here is an eBay seller offering them for $130 shipped:

You might want to get the "filter kit" which replaces the hoses also. There is one hose that rubs the side of the tank and eventually wears through at about 50K and your right in there again. Doc
