« on: June 29, 2012, 10:11:01 AM »

I ride a 2003 FLHTPI ,when I pull the clutch in the bike still wants to move forward but if I bring the RPM's up a bit it stops  only when hot, tried adjusting 3-4 times oil is good plates new last year new cable, what could be worn out or need replacing ,bike has 145000kms on it and hard to get into neutral unless I bring up the RPMs then it comes out of gear no problem <

If the clutch is slipping when it gets hot it could be adjusted too tight.  Plates swell when the get hotter taking out your slack.

I have done that before.

Would adjusting the clutch when hot help that?

Check the ball and ramp system on the bikes right side and the clutch pushrod overall length. At 145K, the ramp may be worn enough to cause misadjustment. With the primary cover off, remo ve the adjuster plate and nut, then measure the travel of the pushrod, it should move at least .065". Also check the clutch spring retainer for proper installation and wear in its groove, it should fit snug, any play makes it harder to set clutch throw.
Always adjust the clutch completely cold. FWIW twinotter
