Do I need to drill the suddlebag side that faces the scoot to route wires out suddlebags or I can use speaker connector if possible.
Thanks
Since you have the template per the link now, I will answer your other question.
The kit comes with a wire harness that plugs into the accessory port under the seat, and then gives you two pigtails that end in a 3 pin non-water proof connection to the saddlebag spoiler wire harness.
I didn't want to run my cables from the spoilers, drill another hole in the saddlebag, and then connect wires up under the seat to maintain waterproof integrity. This would have been too cumbersome to remove/replace the saddlebags when I needed to. I bounced ideas around with NGH, and decided to utilize the existing 12 pin connectors on the saddlebag. There are 3 unused pin slots on each connector. Keep track of the open pin numbers, because they are not the same on both sides.
So what I did was different for each side of the bike.
Left side: The way I ran the harness under my seat put the longest section of wire harness on the left side of the bike. I was able to simply cut off the connector, and run the wires into the existing 12 pin waterproof connector going into the saddlebag.
I simply used the included zip ties, and ran it down along the existing wire harness to the back of the bike. I did purchase extra pins at the stealership, and on the advice of NGH, picked up a cheap crimper at fry's. This allowed me to cut off a significant length of the wire assembly from the spoiler, and after detaching the saddlebag side of the connector, utilize the 3 open pins to make the saddlebag side connection. I tested everything for operation before final assembly.
Right Side: This length was going to be too short after routing the wires under the seat and frame to run straight down to the saddlebag. Since I had an ample length of extra wire harness from the left side, I simply spliced in some additional spare wire. I soldered the splice, and used heat shrink wrap to provide protection from the elements. Again, I ran this down the wire harness to the 12 pin connector on the right side of the bike.
From the saddlebag side, I had to disconnect the connector from the saddlebag, and wire in the spoiler wire harness. The pin outs are different, so keep track of that. I did have extra wire harness on this side too, since I wasn’t routing this all around the saddlebag and out another hole, so I cut this wire harness shorter too. Tested this side also, reassembled the saddlebag connectors and voila, I have a waterproof solution for both sides of the bike, and didn’t have to drill additional holes into the saddlebag.
When drilling the spoiler holes, make sure you put some masking tape, or painters tape on the saddlebag lid when drilling those holes. I was able to mark all my hole locations, and compare them for alignment before doing any actual drilling. The templates aren’t that great.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
