Primary Leak
« on: July 18, 2012, 03:42:35 AM »

Finally took the 2009 FXSTSSE3 bike to dealership for a primary drip I have had for 2 months.Only leaking a couple drips every few hours.Got there and they put on $165 worth of parts, gaskets etc and 2.8 hours of labor.Had to pay the $50 for the ESP deductible.Rode it home and 14 hours later i opened the garage door and it smelled of oil.i looked down and saw a big puddle under the bike and was very dissapointed.Called them up and they said to bring it back.I rode it home in 90 degree weather about 56 miles.Should it have sat for awhile to let the new seals set? Should they come get my bike on their dime since it is worse now? Was looking at a bike for the woman while waiting but will pass for now till mine if it ever gets fixed. Was told they might have to order new cases or something. At least it is too hot here to ride, otherwise I would really miss it. And should I have to pay the $50 esp deductible again for the same thing?

I would let them send a truck and pick it up and fix it correctly.  That seems unacceptable and I would make some noise.   Make them redo it and test it before you go pick it up.  They can put a few miles on it, let it sit and make sure it's not leaking. You shouldnt have to pay any more of a deductible either.   Make some noise! They should take care of you and let them know you are the custome this time.    >:(.     One more thing,   I had a leak in my primary recently on my 04 Seeg.  They did replace all the seals in my inner primary.  When they called me that it was ready, I left it there purposely  for 2 days just to make sure it was still dry under there.    I called them to tell them I was going to pick it up and made sure to ask someone to look and  make sure that there was no oil underneath.    I was good to go and no problems since.  Bottom line,, be a PITA!    Only way to survive these guys.

I just had the voltage regulator go out on my new bike. It was under warrantee and had a bullitan to replace it.  I wasn't going to ride the bike 45 miles without the battery charging properly.   I told them to send a truck and they did.   Called Saturday.  Was picked up Monday.  It's all about the noise you make.  ;D.    I can be very noisy  ::)

I'd hate to be around if they slip in the pick-up fee on your final invoice.    :huepfenjump3:

If it's now a full blown leak and not just an occasional drip, riding it could be construed as a safety concern.  Oil leaking on the road in front of your rear tire is probably not a good traction aid, if you catch my drift.  Tell the incompetent clowns to come and get it, then fix it right.  And definitely do not pay them anything additional, everything including picking the bike up should now be on their dime.  Depending on their response and final disposition of the problem, you may want to think hard and long about your choice of dealership for future transactions.  Anyone can screw up once, but if they don't step up and handle the problem properly without being forced to do so, they wouldn't get any further business from this guy.
