5000m/8000km service prices...Canada vs US
« on: August 25, 2012, 05:32:58 PM »

I'm going 'across the line' this week and will be in need of the 8k service. My local dealer wants $499+....Mt.Baker in Bellingham only $330. Since I'm going to be there anyway and need to stay the extra night to be there 48 hrs to avoid some duty....I might as well save a couple hundy while I'm at it.
The Mt.Baker's website sure does cater to Canadians.....warranty work, service, import/export, etc. I'm sure the only thing the Canadian dealers learn from this is how to whine louder!

Right on...

My Local Dealer wants $200-$300 more for the Regular Scheduled Services, than does my Local Harley Certified Mechanic... and my guy does a better job, doesn't mess around (turnaround usually same day), and doesn't send you home with a bike in worse condition than when it was brought in.

The good guys are out there... you just have to find them.   8)

Things may change when Deeley finds out, my buddy in Canada has a US bike and brought it south for warranty work, the evil bastards voided his warranty and sent him a note saying it wouldn't be reinstated until he contacted them and paid a fee.

It's  different with a US bike that has been brought up to Canada...Deeley will block the VIN the first time he sees it has been to a Canadian dealer without first having it's 'inspection'. Lots of guys in The Lower Mainland NEVER take their US bikes into a Canadian dealer for service, but, they are much handier to the US than I am on The Island. A Canadian bike getting a service in the US is no problem, what else would I do on a long US trip, void the warranty by not getting it serviced? I'm just going on a short vacation and will need service along the way.....should be less than 100km over the  recommended 8000km.
