Larger 2012 windshield
« on: July 16, 2012, 09:54:50 PM »

Does anyone know of someone who makes a slightly larger windshield for the 2012 that will mount on the existing Softail CVO fairing?

7 Jurock makes one.  I haven't found it on their website, but it is available on eBay.  It has the mount holes pre-drilled for the GPS, but it does not have the vent slot in it.  Their website lists the one for the previous years and does not have the holes pre-drilled.  This is the link to the 20" size on eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HARLEY-CVO-SOFTAIL-CONVERTIBLE-FLSTSE3-2012-20-TALL-CLEAR-WINDSHIELD-/251099859148?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a76b7c8cc&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_948

They have listings for different sizes on there as well.

No problem.  Only reason I knew is that I had been looking to get a taller one myself.  Let me know how it works out.  I'm 5'11" and the wind comes over the top of mine.

If you don't see what you want...they say to call.   Would the 'kick' at the top work for you?......it acts a couple inches taller than it is.

They're great to deal with....I've got one of theirs on my Ruby.

I spoke to Long Ride Shields, very nice guys, but they don't currently make anything for the ConV

I'm going to wait for the Clearview Shield, I've purchased several over the years and they are great to work with.

The stock 2012 windshield id not too bad, there is absolutely no helmet buffeting or excessive wind on the upper chest area, just want a little more coverage and knock down some of the lower area wind.

Yes, but looking at the images Clearview provided we can't be sure it will fit and they have not responded to that question.  The 2012s have the lower wind deflectors bolted to the fairing and I'm not sure if the fairing seals the same way as it does on the earlier models so that the Clearview shield fits as it does in the images.  If it does the lower deflectors can be removed and that windshield might work.  I would need to take mine apart again to see if that gap exists, but I don't think so.  It could be that the windshield does not pass "through" the fairing to mount, but may actually be cut around it and if that is the case then I have a moot point.

Yes. Clearview Shields just came out with a windshield for the CVO.  They are at Sturgis now but you may wish to contact them through http://www.clearviewshields.com
