Best Bearing for inner primary?
« on: December 06, 2012, 06:20:40 PM »

I plan to install the chrome inner primary case I have had for a year or so.  I can't find the info that was posted but I believe the best replacement bearing was the one made by Baker.  Is that right?  I also remember Jim advising the use of a Cometic seal for the shaft shifter.  Is there anything else needed while I'm in there.  I already did the clutch, SE compensator, chain adjuster & the clutch hub when I did the 30 tooth sprocket about 20,000 miles ago.  I will check everything over again.  I plan to measure the crank run out and replace the lifters since I have 61,000 miles.  I'm hoping I can go another year before I have to do anything serious, don't have the funds for a rebuild.

Thanks

Thank you for the reply.  I thought it was a Baker just wasn't positive, the one pressed into the new inner primary looks really cheap.

Thanks again

07 was the last year that you can use the baker bearing. The main shaft is a different diameter in the 08+ bikes. Baker has no plans to make one either. Their answer is to get rid of the hd auto tensioner and use their new manually adjusted tensioner. Not sure if I agree with this :nixweiss:
