Amen to what Ken said.  I have my speakers faded towards the rear to get more of a surround sound going, but at high speeds it is barely noticeable.  Has anyone noticed improved performance from the rear speakers if they are full or empty, i.e. more of a resonance chamber effect if empty?

Lost the deck at 1500 miles, the front amp at 2000.  At 4000 now and the front amp is cutting in and out again.

My iPod cable connector fell apart this week.  The 2 release tabs on the sides disappeared. I have a new on on order.  Be a few days i would think.   So far that's the only problems.  I still think it should sound better tho.  :nixweiss:

Had some more issues with the stereo in the past couple of weeks. On my way down to Key West, the front speakers started cutting in and out. Looked over the bike when I got back to the casa and found that one of the lowers speakers wasn't even plugged in. I didn't even notice. While searching for the connector I realized that my tweeters weren't putting out any sound. Made an appointment and took it into the dealer. Left it all day Saturday to have them look at the speakers and do the brake switch recall. I come in Sunday and they pull my bike around. I asked what did they do with the speakers? Did they order parts? NOPE. They ordered no parts and said everything was working fine. I asked what they did to fix it. They didn't have the ticket so they couldn't tell me. I knew this wasn't good. Went outside to check and sure enough they didn't do anything. Still no sound from the tweeters and the other speakers were still cutting in and out. I had to get the service writer and another technician out to show them what was going on. They should be paying me at that dealership to do their troubleshooting. While I was providing a troubleshooting demonstration the other service writer has found my ticket and tells me that the tech "could not duplicate issue". Then they tried to tell me that my ipod was bad. I provided an even more in depth troubleshooting demonstration by putting a CD in and it having the same result. Then they tried to tell me that the tweeters weren't loud and that they would be hard to hear. I just about blew a gasket. After a little convincing they agreed to call Harley to get some direction. I know this is the audio thread but on the way out of the dealership (remember I also had the brake switch recall performed) I go to test my rear brakes and it falls to the floorboard. Head back into the dealership and the only manager that seems to works on a Sunday is the sales manager. Had an in depth conversation with him and told him to have the GM give me a call. The next day I get a call from the GM with the service manager in conference. They go on to say that the tech did everything right by the "flow chart" for troubleshooting the stereo and that the video shows that the tech also bled the brakes correctly. Blah, blah, blah. Nothing but excuses. So... they got a new flow chart and replaced all four front speakers. I don't think the tweeters were ever working. The sound is better than it has ever been. I'm glad I finally have it fixed (for now) but trying to get to this point was a PITA.

PASN YU, where it the heck is this dealer so I know NEVER to go there...ever!  Wow, they were out to prove you wrong on all accounts but glad you stuck to your guns to get the speakers and the issue with the brake fixed.  I believe I might have taken it beyond the GM and demanded calling HD with the GM of the dealership on conference.  No excuse with this type service..... :nixweiss:  I like my dealer and the service but STILL only use them for warranty.  If I do the service, I only have one person to blame if it's wrong plus it's a good thing to work on them at the house just in case you have to "tune" them on the road.... ;)

As for problems with the sound, none on Ginger.  I, too, have the fader a couple notches back toward the rear and really notice a big difference.  Rode on a 600 mile weekend trip two weeks ago in 95-100 degree weather with saddlebags full...no issues with the iPod working.

An earlier post mentioned settings on the iPod, especially the eq.  On no eq setting, you get the flattest sound AND seems like the most sound.  When you change settings, the volume level isn't up to snuff but you can tailor to they kind of sound you enjoy....just not as loudly ::)

One more note:  If you do use an Apple product with the shake to shuffle mode, you will probably want to turn that off....Harley's aren't the smothest operators you know and with all that shaking, you will have LOT'S of un-intentional shuffling....not that I have experienced that or anything.... :bananarock:
