Security system dilemma
« on: July 28, 2012, 01:35:04 PM »

I just finished installing an amp and different bars on my 09 Road Glide.  During the install I kept the key fobs inside the fairing compartment to ensure the security system was disabled. For the amp install, I needed to disconnect the battery to connect the amp.  When I disconnected the negative, my security system engaged. Lights went flashing and the siren engaged .  I unplugged the siren and pulled the main 40 amp fuse.  Eventually the siren and flashing lights stopped.  I have everything put back together......when I turn my ignition switch on......my flashers turn on along with the security siren.  They will still stay engaged after I turn the ignition switch off.  Eventually the security system calms down and stops.  Looks like I screwed something up with the security system

Does anyone have any ideas....is it something I can correct ? or do I need to take to a dealership ?

Any input is appreciated.

To disable the security system, turn your key to the on position and then pull your main fuse.  The key must be on otherwise you security system will sound.

I would try that and see if it resets the alarm.  Then just plug your main fuse back in.

I have made the same mistake.   :nixweiss:

Thanks Charles.....I'll give that a shot.

I also tracked down the dealership that originally sold the bike and they gave me the pin code they put in the bike.

Hopefully...I'll be able to get this security alarm reset  ......I guess I like learning things  the hard way at times..
