Just picked up my FLHXSE3 last Tuesday  :bananarock: and after a week of riding, I have determined i need to make a change in handlebars. The stock SG bars are too low for me but the main issue is the hand position (Wrist Angle) - the grips are "too" angled which causes pain in my throttle hand after an hour or so of riding. I am coming from a Nightrain which had drag bars which kept my hands almost horizontal (less wrist angle) which did not cause any pressure on my wrists.

I have looked thru alot of the handlebar threads here and I didn't see anything on what others have done for this particular issue. I looked at the Wild1s 575s (popular with CVO members) which look like they have the height I am looking for (12-14") but they look similar to the stock SG bars for hand position. Also looked at the Burly 13 inch Apes.

Am hoping others can offer up some suggestions.
Thanks
Pete

Pete, I just installed the Chubby 575's on my '12 SG and I can assure you that the wrist angle is not the same as the stock bars.  The wrist angle on these bars put your wrist's at a more natural position.  They are far superb over the stock bars and hand position is nothing close to the uncomfortable stock bars.  Hope this helps.

more of a flat wrist design.

Those look like the ticket!!   They are available local to me for $300 at Underground Performance in Port Alberni........and, if I choose, 3 hours for install.
He has a set on his bike....It'll be good to put my hands on an installed set before buying.

Thanks for the link Kurt.

Check out the Khrome Werks +2 Sweepers.  Less than $100 and IMO perfect.

Lookin' at the side view pics.....they still have a pretty prominent wrist angle.....likin' the Klockwerks better so far.

I was just looking at those - the pic showing the  styles compared to stock and write up on the Klock Werks page was pretty intriguing. I may look at these as the wrist angle looks pretty good.
My only issue is going to make sure my Zumo 665 GPS is still accessible behind the bars and also my mirrors - will they be blocked by the new bars.
Thanks for the info

I went with 575's on two different bikes.  What I like about them is the improved wrist angle.  I was having the same problem as you, it was killing my right wrist.  I also like the fact that you don't need to change the clutch cable or brake line on the FLHXSE3.  You can also keep the farring mounted mirrors, with taller bars you would need to go with bar mounted mirrors.

I've installed them twice now.  It's not hard but it is time consuming.  It took me 6 hrs. the first time and probably 4.5 hrs. the second time.  The only help I needed was to put the inner farring back in the right position.

What ever bars you go with, they will be better than stock.

Check out the new modular bars from Arlen Ness.  Saw these in Sturgis and the can be adjusted for different wrist angles.  I might be putting these on soon.
