2012 Saddlebags
« on: August 04, 2012, 12:21:49 AM »

Hi all, I was chatting to a couple of friends this morning and both have recently purchased a 2012 Street Glide and are experiencing the same problem...

The speaker setup in the lids of the saddlebags are leaking water into the storage area....has anyone else experienced this? hopefully it is just a seal problem but looking at the setup, I've often wondered the effect of pouring rain would have....I (we) would appreciate your thoughts and I will promptly pass them on...

Question: does your lids fasten easy or are they snug/tight when you fasten the locks?
If they are snug then you have something that is putting it in a bind. I had to relocate the right speaker wire loom so it would close correctly.
Just a thought

The day after I got my bike I ran into a HELLA storm and was soaked in about 5 seconds. Made it to the first over pass and parked under it opened up my bags and the were bone dry. Now that's the only time I hit rain so not sure if they still are good.

I've been caught in a few thunderstorms recently (pouring rain) for over 30 minutes and bags were bone dry. More than I can say for myself. However, when I was washing my bike I sprayed up under the lid and water did leak into bag. lesson learned.

Went on a 300 mile charity ride this weekend and it rained for about half of it.  Bags stayed 100% dry inside and the speakers worked fine in the rain.  :orange:
