I too have had a deposit on the CVO Anniversary color Road Glide for a while now.  I have a 12 Skunk CVO Road Glide.

Tunner I will go TTS again, like the last two CVO road glides.

Exhaust, if you go 2 into one you will need a ghost pipe to make it look right due to rear end bags and fender.

I have used for head pipe both Fuel Moto Jackpot on the 12, Fullsac on the 09.  Most likely the fullsac for the 13, the c version.

For mufflers go either fullsac baffles, I did on the 9 and sounded good.  I have the Jack pot pro tour on the 12, I like them.

This time I am not sure if it will be fullsac 2.25 baffles, CFR or Rinheart 4 inch.

Cams many like the 54H or 57.  I have left them stock in the last two.  This one I may do pistons, heads and cams....

Keeping the 12 for a while for distance riding, the 13 will be a day trip bike.

May at the last minute switch it to the CVO King

But, I have been told that once I ride it, I'll never go back.

Jerry

I have a batwing (03 Classic) and bought a shark. (01 SERG)
Love both the 2001 SERG and the 03 Classic!
Next bike purchased was a batwing. (2011.5 SEUC)
Love the 2011.5 SEUC and the other two!
Next bike purchased was a shark. (2012 SERG)
Love the new 2012 SERG, love the 2011.5 SEUC, love the 2001 SERG and will always keep the 03 Classic.
So,

But, I have been told that once I ride it, I'll never go back.

Ride whatever makes you happy, only you have to write that check.
But like BigLew said,
Quote
I can't stress this enough...take one for a test ride!
Some people like the batwing, some like the shark, I like them both.
Good luck in what you decide.

That was the point I was trying (but evidently failed) to make.

And this is what makes America great!  Where else can we have two nearly identical, top of the line touring bikes within one year of each other and designate one for touring and one for short trips?!  Love it!

As more and more members are reporting, 2013's are showing up at the dealers virtually every day now so this weekend in particular I recommend a little recon work at your local dealer and you'll turn up the 2013 stash.

My sense is that starting Monday, the dealers will start aggressively selling every 2013 they can to make up for the delayed launch this year. My local dealer has cleared his showroom floor to make room.

If I was really bored, I'd go to my own dealer, who just 5 days ago assured me that they wouldn't be on the floors for a few more weeks, especially the Touring and Softails...

All I can say is "TEST RIDE"!  I wasted a lot of money believing the hype of how much folks loved their sharks.  Turned out, I couldn't make mine a viable touring bike after 2 seats, 3 windshields and 2 helmets.  I just couldn't get over the pounding the turbulance gave me.

The best mod I did to that bike was to change out the fairing to a batwing.  Took the bike from miserable to great in $1700!  You might also check in with Fireguy.  I belive he did the same thing with a '09 TRSE.

I get that folks like their sharks.  I don't understand why, but after riding mine and test riding some since, I can only explain it as different strokes for different folks.

Please, take the time for a test ride!  It can easily confirm or dispell your desire for the shark.

For the record, I LOVE the look of the sharks.  That's why I keep doing test rides to see if they fixed them yet.

I can't stress this enough...take one for a test ride!

Sadly, I agree with the assessment of buffeting.  I think it has to do with the distance you are from the windscreen on each of the the 2 styles of bikes. The protection created by the windscreen on the roadglide collapses sooner.  Since I still love the bike, I have compromised with a 3/4 or full face helmet coupled with a windscreen I can barely look over.

I'm running a Cee Bailey TRSSC Euro with a '12 SESG seat and can comfortably wear a half helmet with no buffeting. I look over the screen with no problem.

My only complaint with the Road Glide is riding in rain, THAT'S where the lack of protection really shows up. So far the wind has been entirely manageable. Oh, I have lowers as well and that may make a difference. Nonetheless, I'll always be on a RG. :D

Tried a similar one made by the boys in Colorado.  worked great for me but my passenger was miserable. Wind shadow collapsed before it got to her.

Thats funny, for me the larger the helmet, the worse the buffeting. If I wear a half hemet with straps on my glasses I have no buffeting. Full helmet, bad news for me..
